This is PicoClaw.

What It Actually Does

One binary (one file let’s say). Go-based (coded in Go, it’s a coding language). You download it, run picoclaw onboard, configure your API key, and you're done.

From there you get:

- CLI chat sessions powered by any major LLM
- Persistent workspace with long-term memory, agent identity, user preferences
- Chat app gateways for Telegram, Discord, QQ, DingTalk
- Tool execution including file operations, web search via Brave, cron scheduling
- Skill installation compatible with the OpenClaw ecosystem

The mental model is identical to running a full personal agent.
The runtime is 100x smaller.

Here's the entire setup:

1. Download the binary

2. Make it executable

sudo mv picoclaw-linux-amd64 /usr/local/bin/picoclaw

3. Initialize

picoclaw onboard

This creates your config file and workspace with memory, identity, and tool definitions.

4. Add your LLM provider

Edit ~/.picoclaw/config.json:

Swap in OpenRouter, Anthropic, OpenAI, DeepSeek, whatever. Same pattern.

That's it. You now have a personal agent running on whatever hardware you have lying around.

The Telegram Play

Want to talk to your agent from your phone?

1. Create a Telegram bot via @BotFather, copy the token

2. Get your user ID via @userinfobot

3. Add to config.json:

4. Run the gateway:

Now you can message your agent from Telegram. It has access to all the same tools, memory, and skills.

Discord works the same way. QQ and DingTalk too.

What It's Good For

  • Homelab monitoring on a $10 board that watches logs, pings services, and messages you on Telegram when something breaks

  • AI concierge running on a Pi Zero that manages content ideas, searches the web, and lives in your Discord server

What It Sucks At

It's new. The ecosystem is smaller than OpenClaw. Documentation is still being written.

The agent intelligence depends entirely on which LLM you point it at. PicoClaw is orchestration, not reasoning.

Security surface is real. Like any agent with file access and network calls, you need to think about what you're letting it do.

It's MIT licensed and open source, but the default config leans toward Chinese providers (Zhipu GLM). For EU or US data jurisdiction, you'll want to swap in OpenRouter or your preferred provider.
