HOW IT WORKS

SeedDance is ByteDance's multimodal video model. Here's what matters:

  • It takes four inputs. Images, video, audio, text. Each one controls something different.

  • Images define the look. Your UI, your colors, your logo.

  • Video defines the motion. How the camera moves, how elements float.

  • Audio defines the rhythm. When cuts happen, how motion syncs to beat.

  • Text fills in the gaps. Style, constraints, specific camera moves, and motion if no video reference in input.

This is why those Twitter demos feel like real commercials. The model understands "dolly-in" or "orbit" or "crane shot." It's not just randomly panning and zooming.

WHERE TO USE IT

You've got options. The official Chinese portal (Jimeng) has full features but needs a Chinese account and payment method. Skip it unless you need max control.

THE WORKFLOW

STEP 1: GET YOUR IMAGE

You need a clean image of your app or product. Two options:

Option A: Screenshot what you have
Take a screenshot of your app, website, or dashboard. Crop it clean. no clutter, simple background.

Option B: Generate a mockup
Don't have a built app yet? Use an image generator to create your mockup first. Describe your app and get a clean UI image with Nano Banana (https://aistudio.google.com/)

That's it. Two images is enough to start.

STEP 2: PICK A PLATFORM

1. Select "SeedDance 2.0" as the model
2. Choose "All-Round Reference" or "Universal Reference" mode
3. Upload your image(s)
4. The system tags them automatically as @Image1, @Image2—leave these tags, they tell the model which image to animate

Use the boring settings
Resolution: 1080p
Duration: 8-12 seconds. Anything longer gets mushy.
Aspect: 16:9 for Twitter/X, 9:16 for Reels and TikTok

STEP 3: THE PROMPT

The model can already see your image. Don't describe your UI again. Focus only on motion, camera, and style.

PROMPT FRAMEWORK

Most people write vibes when they should write structure. Here's the pattern:

Subject → Action → Camera → Style → Constraints

Subject first locks focus. Action defines the motion. Camera stops it from randomly reframing mid-shot. Style comes last. Constraints kill the artifacts.

Template for app demos:

"[Your UI] @Image1 [position], [what moves], [camera move], [lighting/style], [constraints]"

Copy-paste example:

"App interface @Image1 centered, icons and UI cards gently floating and orbiting around the main screen, slow continuous dolly-in for the full 8 seconds, soft neon rim light and dark gradient background with subtle particle trails, no extra logos, keep brand colors exactly, no text overlays."

One sentence. That's all the model needs.

COMMON MISTAKES

Too many references: You get confused layouts and a camera that hunts between subjects. Cap it at 1-2 images plus an optional video.

Writing a mood board instead of a shot: The result looks pretty but the camera keeps reframing. Use the Subject-Action-Camera framework. One main camera verb.

Over-describing the image: The model changes your UI instead of just animating it. Don't describe the layout again. Only describe motion and camera.

Microscopic text: Logos flicker and small type becomes unreadable. Either design your UI for video (big type, clear icons) or cut away from text-dense screens.
